Airasia up as earnings looking strong
AirAsia Bhd, Southeast Asia’s largest budget carrier, rose the most in almost a month after its chief executive officer said first-quarter earnings are “looking strong” and it doesn’t need to raise more capital.

The stock climbed 3.2 per cent to RM1.31 at 9:15 am local time in Kuala Lumpur trading, set for the steepest gain since Feb. 22. -- Bloomberg

Maxis-owned Aircel says to bid for 3G; has tied up funds
NEW DELHI, March 17 — Aircel, India’s seventh-ranked mobile operator that is 74 percent owned by Malaysia’s Maxis Communications, will shortly bid for 3G wireless spectrum and has tied up funds, a senior official said yesterday.
Chief Operating Officer Gurdeep Singh did not say whether the firm would bid in selected telecoms zones or across the country.
India’s 3G auction starts from April 9 and Friday is the last date for submitting applications to participate. — Reuters
